Sending
items thru couriers like JRS, LBC and 2Go is now a usual thing for everyone as
it is the fastest way to deliver things, and usually we are very much secured
that the items will always be delivered to us.
But
what happened to me with my experience with 2Go delivery this week is something
like a Pre-halloween special!
I
always send my items via LBC (most trusted), JRS (since it is cheap to use this
one). But this time, my sister in law sent an item thru 2Go because it was very
convenient as they have a branch in SM Iloilo.
I
asked my sister in law from Iloilo to send my Raoul green colored gown to
Manila, as I needed it for an event which was supposed to be for last Tuesday
evening, October 28 2014. So my sister in law, Toni, went to SM Iloilo 2Go last
Sunday October 26, 2014 with tracking number p0339059c. The 2Go people told her
that I will receive the item by the next day Monday, October 27. Came October
28, and my item didn’t arrive. So the next day, October 29, I asked my sister
in law to call on 2Go. She complained and then she told me by phone that the
2Go representative told her that the item is on the way for delivery. Then two
hours later, she called me to tell me that 2Go representative told her that the
item is now found missing. They said that it was delivered to Manila, but then
the courier guy didn’t deliver it to me. They said that many items went missing
and that the courier guy is not answering his phone call.
Meanwhile,
in Manila, that same afternoon, I got a text message saying...”Ms. Richie Joy”...-
And
since there was no other message, I didn’t reply. Another message from another
number messaged again – “e2 po ba si Richie?” (Is this Richie?) I totally
ignored the message again.
I
called 2Go, and they informed me that the courier guy is missing and that they
will return back my declared value for
my gown of Php 5,500. I told them, if possible I want my gown back as I have
not used it and the real value of that simple green gown is Php 23,000; and I
really love that gown so much, so I would rather wait until they get to contact
the courier guy. They told me to wait for their call tomorrow morning, because
maybe the courier guy is sick or in hospital.
That
same afternoon, while on the way to SM Megamall with my niece to shop, I
received a phone call from a number I don’t recognized. When I answered, the
guy said is this Ms Richie, he said he is the courier and he is going to
deliver my item to my home address. To my delight, I said he can just meet me
in SM Megamall instead. So he told me he is going to megamall and we will meet
in the taxi lane in 30 minutes.
After
30 minutes, the courier guy texted me he is outside waiting for me. This is the
exact text message: “Cge po mam pasensya na rin na ospital po kc anak ko at un
tinanggal po ako sa trabaho”. (Sorry mam, my child was hospitalized and also I
was fired in my job ); and another message: “Mam nandito napo ako Mam Baka
gusto nyo rin po bumili ng xoxo watch for girls” ( I am already here Mam and
maybe you also want to buy an xoxo watch for girls.
I
went to the taxi lane in SM Megamall together with my niece (mid 20’s), and I
told her to be careful with her bags and just to keep a little distance from
the side street just in case there is a “riding in tandem” or robbery. I saw a
guy wearing a sando ( sleeveless shirt) and shorts in a motorcycle. I waived
but he didn’t waived back. I called the courier and he asked me if I was the
one wearing a pink jacket. And so it was that guy indeed. We walked to him, and
he said sorry for the delay and that he got fired because his daughter was
hospitalized.
My
niece and I were a bit scared, as the guy looked a bit scruffy and scary up
close. His eyes have very dark eye bags probably from either lack of sleep or
for any other reason. Hence my niece and I were trying to look relaxed and we
didn’t talked much.
He gave me the item. The 2Go package was
CLEARLY DAMAGED. The item was opened and
definitely checked out. I didn’t complain I just said thank you. He was clearly
uncomfortable and rickety. His hands were all the time inside his black bag
clearly holding on something, after a minute he got his hands out of the bag
and there he showed me a pen, and he told me to sign the delivery, in which I
just did without any complaint as I do not understand what was happening, and
why now that he was fired, he personally
delivered to me the item, which was not in the package anymore when he handed
it to me, and he placed it in the damaged or opened plastic package with no
more papers. Clearly, they tried to steal the item but thought perhaps the item
was difficult to dispose. And I didn’t understand why he delivered it, until he
showed me another item. This time, he showed me the box (new) with the new XOXO
watch. He told me to buy it. I asked how much, just for curiosity. He told me,
it was up to me. Its just to help him with the hospital bills, and he gave me
an amount if preferably around 2 thousand pesos. I just said thank you and
reasoned out that I don’t have the budget. Obviously, I do not want to buy a
stolen item, this is indeed stealing and its indeed against the “Anti-fencing
law! “ Carrying my item, I left the courier guy.
Then
I realized that the reason why the guy personally delivered my item was maybe
it was a bit difficult for him to dispose, and he was hoping that I will buy
items from him, which I am sure was also stolen from one of those who sent
their items thru 2Go. I feel sorry for the person who sent the watch. I thought
it can be from an OFW parent or relative sending gifts or a boyfriend sending a
gift to a loved one. Also, I thought I was lucky we met in a mall instead of
him personally delivering the item to my place. It could have been very scary.
What
happened was a scary experience, but I am glad I got my gown/dress back as it
has a sentimental value. When I went home, I checked the dress, and it was very
crumpled and it didn’t look the same as it was sent. Probably it was tried on a
few times, and handled very bad.
However,
I am thankful it was returned back to me. The experience was very stressful for
me and specially for my sis in law who kept on calling 2Go, and the meeting
with the courier was a scary one. I also feel sorry for the those who sent
their packages thru the courier guy, whose item/s for sure are now declared
missing.
I
used to trust the door to door delivery a lot, and the brand 2Go…but now I am
unsure if I should trust them with my item after this incident.
